Fine Guatemalan Huipil. Nebaj.

This fine Nebaj huipil is fabulous. Such tremendous design and creativity. Fine dense psychedelic embroidery on a solid black base. It was hand woven on a back strap loom in two black base panels made of a material call "aleman" in Guatemala. It is a rayon cotton mix and it is like nothing I've ever felt. Super soft and supple yet substantial. The panels are decorated with supplementary brocade featuring animal, bird and geometric motifs typical of Nebaj weavings. The complex intermingling of these motifs gives the overall design an abstract quality. The traditional collar design symbolizing the four cardinal directions is hand embroidered. This classic example is in very good condition

These are great year round.
