These vibrant little treasures come from the Costa Chica of Oaxaca, Mexico. The Afro-Mexican roots of the people there are reflected in the craft and dress. These are cut and carved from painted gourds. This type of work is a particular specialty of the region. We have fitted these with handmade sterling silver ear wires.
These look fabulous on. They have great movement, beautiful color and form and are light as a feather to wear. About 3.5 inches long Approx 7 grams.

This is an extraordinary necklace featuring a heavy gauged sterling silver pendant, natural amber and capped coral beads from Oaxaca, Mexico. The beads are coral and beautiful natural amber. The artisan that made this has passed. It is one of a kind and irreplacable.

Mexican amber is among the rarest and highest qualities of amber in the world. The amber is of a long extinct species of tree and is probably about 25 million years old.
