Chichicastenango Floral Guatemalan Huipil. Hand-Woven & Hand-Embroidered

Santo Tomás Chichicastenango ceremonial huipil.

This beautiful post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three black cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade, all in silk and cotton. Lovely shades of deep purple and orange. Gorgeous hues. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated. The decorative motifs are lilies. The sunburst collar is hand embroidered in cotton over velvet and unique to Chichicastenango huipiles. This beautiful huipil in very good condition. It was hard to get the colors of this huipil in the photos, the close ups are generally the most accurate in that regard.

Measures 29 wide x 25 long.

These are great year round. In the winter I wear them over a light sweater and they are cozy.
