Fabulous oversized pompoms from Tenejapa, Chiapas. These are called borlas and of this size and quality they are quite rare. We adore them as decorative pieces but they are created as adornment to the vibrant and wonderful tarditional men's attire. They hang down from their hats. See last picture of an example of the traditional men's attire from this town
These represent hours of work and contain a lot of yarn!
Stunning jade necklace of graduated beads. This necklace features various types of jadeite from Guatemala spaced by .95 fine silver beads. These beads are worked by Mayan artisans in the highlands of Guatemala, the design is our own. It is a work of art.
This are the most wonderful stone! reminiscent both of turquoise and amazonite. I consider these to be a tremendous value particularly considering their rarity. 41 inches long approx 980 g. For more fabulous beaded treasures check out the necklace section of our shop.
Wonderful vintage Mayan Huipiles from Oxchuc, Chiapas. Incredible modern color palette on an very old and traditional design. A wonderful piece. Lots of hand embroidery. This one is interestingly kind of a hybrid huipil between the Oxchuc huipil and the huipil of the neighboring town of Cancuc. The base is the classic Oxchuc base but the the embroidery resembles that of Cancuc.
36" width x 27" length
