This is a stunning necklace of huge slightly graduated hand shaped pieces of Chiapas amber. The largest bead having a diameter of 40 mm. The clasp is sterling silver hook and the necklace is strung on heavy silk cord. It is an impressive and rare piece. Amber of this size is uncommon and has become much more difficult to get in even the past two years.
Mexican amber is among the rarest and highest qualities of amber in the world. The amber is of a long extinct species of tree and is probably about 25 million years old. This is completely natural untreated amber.
