This skirt is the work of a real master of her craft. A very beautiful and special textile. The wide waist is densely and finely embroidered with mirror work. The skirt also has extensive fine embroidery and applique and some mirror work.
It is fully lined and the skirt itself made from sturdy heavyweight cotton. This piece is in particularly good condition. Zips up the back.
The waist measurement of this one is 32 inches and it is about 19 inches long with a great flare, If worn high on the waist as in the photo the skirt portion of the garment is almost 11 inches long and the waist is about 8 inches long. It is a quite a short skirt. The crenoline adds a bit of length and I will send it with the garment free of cost. I've seen these skirts worn this way by models in Spain.
This skirt can be worn one of two ways. For smaller hipped people it can be worn low on the waist as an above the knee skirt. For the less small waisted it can be worn as a high waisted skirt. Either way it is fab.
These come from the Banjara tribe of Northern India.
