Santo Tomás Chichicastenango ceremonial huipil.
This beautiful post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton base panels. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton and silk. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated. The motif is the universal diamond with some Coban-like zoomorphic depictions. The sunburst collar is hand embroidered in silk over velvet and unique to Chichicastenango huipiles. This beautiful huipil is in very good.
The embroidery is very finely done in silk and rayon.
We can even out the panels at the bottom of the huipil if you like.
These are great year round. In the winter I wear them over a light sweater and they are cozy.
Measures approximately 30 Wide x 23 long
