Wonderful hand-embroidered dress from Uzbekistan. The cut is perfect and the embroidery is fabulous. A really nice quality of velvet. Probably rayon but nice enough that it may have silk content (Uzbekistan makes beautiful silk velvet). The perfect cool weather dress. Long sleeves and the generous cut allows for layers underneath. Could also be worn as a tunic with pants underneath.
38" long and 26" wide across the chest under the armpits.
This is huipil made from an older pre 1980s Chichicastenango huipil and natural silk velvet. Absolutely phenomenal color way! The huipil is a now rare wool embroidered piece. These are no longer produced in this region.
W 27.5 x L 37 inches
The cost of the dress is just enough to cover the materials, the labor that went into it and the fees to sell it.
This poncho come from the Highlands of Chiapas, a village called San Andres Larrainzar. Not a traditional garment but a completely fabulous modern design using the traditional San Andres Larrainzar style of weaving. Wonderful color way.
