This is a stunning huipil/blouse from Zacualpa, Guatemala. I love the bold and powerful design. Zacualpa daily huipil. It was hand woven on a back strap loom in two balanced panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade across the shoulders features the “soumak” weaving technique, which produces a subtle herringbone pattern unique to Zacualpa. The arm holes have the “feathers” typical of Zacualpa huipils. This classic example is in excellent condition.
measures 28.5 inches long and 28 inches across.
These are great year round. In the winter I wear them over a light sweater and they are super cozy.
