This is an authentic, not for tourists wool shawl from Tenejapa, Chiapas. Truly fabulous. All wool and finely embroidered with metallic threads. The quality of this style of shawl is something of a status symbol. This one is particularly fine and beautiful and the white shawls are particularly rare.
The wool that goes to make this shawls is raised locally and spun on small top style spindles. This was purchased from the woman that made it.
Wonderful hand-embroidered dress from Uzbekistan. The cut is perfect and the embroidery is fabulous. A really nice quality of velvet. Probably rayon but nice enough that it may have silk content (Uzbekistan makes beautiful silk velvet. The perfect cool weather dress. Long sleeves and the generous cut allows for layers underneath. Could also be worn as a tunic with pants underneath.
44" long and 26" wide across the chest under the armpits.
