Large Agave Woven Bag With Leather Strap And Tassel! Hand-spun & Woven. Chiapas, Mexico

These bags are a wonder. First the agave leaf (same plant mezcal and tequila come from!) is pounded to extract the strong fibers. After they are cleaned the long fibers are selected and spun by hand to a long enough string to produce one of these bags. Comes with a wonderful beaded Kuchi tassel

These are used in Chiapas for carrying all manner of things. They are very strong and durable and expand a surprising amount laterally.

The bag itself measures 17" x 12". The strap is adjustable to a max length of 31" with bag.
