This is a stunning huipil/blouse from Zacualpa, Guatemala. I love the bold and powerful design.
Zacualpa daily huipil. It was hand woven on a back strap loom in two balanced panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade across the shoulders features the "soumak" weaving technique, which produces a subtle herringbone pattern unique to Zacualpa.
measures 24 inches long and 28 inches across.
