This is a perfectly wonderful handmade textile from Madagascar. Soft hand-spun, hand-dyed and handwoven raw silk textiles produced from wild harvested silkworm pods as opposed to cultivated ones. A beautiful color and wonderful drape.
We have several of these and each is slightly different so check out this section of my shop for more, to compare:
Wonderful shawl from Chamula, Chiapas. This garment is handwoven from the little sheep that are raised in small flocks there, spun on small top style spindles and then hand embroidered. In addition to looking great it is warm and super practical. We love a poncho.
The wool that goes to make this shawls is raised locally and spun on small top style spindles. This was purchased from the woman that made it.
This is a gorgeous handwoven huipil from the Costa Chica of Oaxaca. The huipil is woven of soft hand spun cotton. The beautiful blue color is made from a a natural indigo dye. Huipiles from this region are difficult to come by and this is a fabulous example.
This was purchased from the artisan at asking price.
This one has these measurements: Chest 27.5" Length 27.5"
