These Churrancho huipiles are wonderful! This one was hand woven on a backstrap loom in two well matched cotton base panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring various zoomorphic motifs. Circa 1980.
This is a ceremonial huipil with a wonderful feel and drape,
The colors are wonderfully vibrant.

These are great year round. In the winter I wear them over a light sweater and they are cozy.

A gorgeous handwoven huipil from the Amuzgo people of Guerrero. It is made of hand spun cotton in it's natural colors. Truly masterful weaving and a very special garment. This huipil is a masterpiece of an accomplished artisan.
