Vintage Guatemalan Huipil. Nahuala Indigo.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two wide, well balanced, warp-striped cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The blue base thread is the natural dye, indigo. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade in cotton featuring tree of life motifs. This unique example is in excellent condition.
