A fab jacket made from repurposed kantha quilts from Northern India. Kantha is s technique by which many thin layer of fabric are hand stitched together to make a light quilted blanket. Often old saris and dhotis are the materials used in making them. These blankets have been repurposed for use in these garments.
After a recent trip to India I am very much in love with kantha. Not so much the pieces that I have seen widely available in the states, but the ones like this jacket is made from, that are so lovingly and deliberately created and used to a wonderful patina. To me they express love so beautifully.
One size fits most.
39 inches long and about 23 inches wide across the back.
This is a vintage textile and may have some irregularities.
