A fab jacket made from repurposed kantha quilts from Northern India. Kantha is s technique by which many thin layer of fabric are hand stitched together to make a light quilted blanket. Often vintage saris and dhotis are the materials used in making them. These blankets have been repurposed for use in these garments.
These are beautifully constructed with bound seams.
After a recent trip to India, I am very much in love with kantha. Not so much the pieces that I have seen widely available in the states, but the ones like this jacket is made from, that are so lovingly and deliberately created and used to a wonderful patina.
One size fits most.
30 inches long and about 26.5 inches wide across the back.
Bound seams. Could probably be reversible but no belt loops inside.
