Great Tribal Earrings from the nomadic Kuchi people of Pakistan and Afghanistan. These are the most beautiful of this style that I have seen. These weigh 78 g and are 3 long. They are gauged to 1.6 mm so quite a bit thicker than normal ear wires. This helps support the earring. These can be supported on the head with a thread and barrette or I also have some Kuchi metal earring supports that are not listed that attach to the hair. If you are interested please inquire.
These earrings are an homage to corn! Mexicans call themselves the "children of corn," descendants of people whose religious pantheon included three corn gods. Cornstalks were common patterns in ancient Mexican art and persist today in popular art. Between the Guatemalan and U.S. borders grow at least 32 varieties of corn, each with various sub-varieties, developed in response to climate and soil differences.
Sterling silver. About 1.5 inches long. Approx 7 grams.
